The brain needs certain things to happen for it to trigger memory reconsolidation.

It won’t do it on a whim. It won’t just discard safety-based learning.

If it learned that certain things are unsafe for you, it won’t want you to lose that learning easily.

This is a good thing.

It’s why we put precious things in a safe rather than a cupboard.

It’s too easy to change the contents of a cupboard.

It’s not easy to change the contents of a safe.

But it’s still possible. You just need to know the combination.

The safe needs you to give it the right combination to open it.

Your brain needs the right steps too. Only then will it open brain pathways that store emotional learnings like trauma.

Want me to show you those steps?
