After a session aimed at removing trauma response, we need to check if it worked. Did it successfully trigger memory reconsolidation or not?
Here’s a common scenario for when it has been successful.
I ask about the problem. The client looks at me quizzically as if to say “problem? what problem?”
Likewise, I may show them the sentence where they described how it makes sense that they have kept hold of the problem.
And they look at it puzzled saying “I can barely believe I even wrote that.”
Once memory reconsolidation has taken place, the problem is gone forever. And the client does not experience it anymore.
